Red River Rendezvous 2018 – Another Great Year

The Red River Rendezvous held on January 26th and 27th was a resounding success for all involved.  A great time was had by all involved. As with previous years the event including good food, great fly tying tips, tricks, and patterns shared by both expert and beginner tiers, as well as great stories of fish that had been caught and a few that got away.  There may have even been some slight exaggeration in a couple of those fishing tales, but nothing that anyone could prove.

Outside on Saturday there was some casting practice and instruction as well as a few members trying out a rod or fly line they had not seen or used before.

Attendees to the event included a range of individuals including members of other fly fishing clubs, fly fisherman and tiers of all experience levels and some new individuals to the sport that had yet to pickup a fly rod or sit down at the tying vise for the first time.

There were also several of the next generation on hand to soak up the knowledge in the room and keep the sport and traditions alive.

Rhea Bermel of the Herald Democrat was also on hand to cover the event.  Her story “Red River fishermen teach art of fly fishing”.  The article can be found on the Herald Democrat website HERE. The members of the Red River Fly Fishers appreciate Rhea and the Herald Democrat for coming out and covering the event.

Plans have already started for the 2019 Red River Rendezvous.

Beavers Bend – Lower Mountain Fork Outing

We had a nice time at Beaver’s Bend a couple of weeks ago. Nine members joined the two guides on Saturday. The fishing was slow early and then heated up in the late afternoon for Jeff & Sylvia Pearson. A couple of pictures from the day are below.
